Cache Returns to CS2 Competitive Map Pool After Seven Years Away

Cache is back. After more than seven years out of competitive Counter-Strike, the iconic map returned to CS2's Active Duty pool in July 2026.
That's a long time. Players who dominated on Cache during its peak have retired. New pros have never touched it in a real match. The meta has changed completely.
So how has the map settled in? The short answer: teams are still figuring it out.
A Map With History
Cache was a staple of competitive CS:GO for years. It rewarded teamwork, utility usage, and crisp aim. Then it disappeared from the top level.
Now it's back. And pro teams are relearning everything.
What We've Seen So Far
The return hasn't been without growing pains. Some teams have embraced it. Others are banning it every chance they get.
That's normal for any map rotation change. It takes months for the best strategies to develop. Right now, we're still in the experimentation phase.
Why This Matters
Map pool changes shake up the entire competitive scene. Teams that master Cache first will have a real edge. Those that ignore it will pay the price in vetoes.
The next few months will show us who did their homework.
