Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Adds 'Collateral' Mode Inspired by CS2 and VALORANT

Call of Duty wants a piece of the tactical shooter pie. Activision just revealed "Collateral," a new game mode for Modern Warfare 4 that borrows heavily from Counter-Strike 2 and VALORANT.
What Is Collateral?
Details are still light. But the mode appears to follow the search-and-destroy format that made CS2 and VALORANT esports giants. Think slower gameplay. Think economy systems. Think high stakes.
This isn't CoD's first attempt at tactical modes. Search and Destroy has existed for years. But Collateral seems designed to compete directly with Valve and Riot's titles.
Why Now?
The tactical shooter space is booming. CS2 just had a massive year. VALORANT keeps growing its player base and esports scene. Call of Duty wants those players.
The franchise has dominated casual shooters for two decades. But competitive players often drift to CS2 or VALORANT for serious competition. Collateral could change that.
Can CoD Compete?
That's the big question. CS2 has 25 years of competitive history. VALORANT brought fresh ideas with agent abilities. Call of Duty brings brand recognition and a massive player base.
We'll see if Collateral can deliver. The mode ships with Modern Warfare 4's full release.
