CS2 Esports Calendar Explained: How Majors and ESL Pro League Work

Counter-Strike 2 esports can be confusing. There are Majors. There's ESL Pro League. They happen around the same time. But they're not the same thing.

Here's the breakdown.

Two Competitions, One Season

ESL Pro League runs its own tournaments throughout the year. The October 2026 event is one of them. Meanwhile, the Singapore Major is approaching.

Both belong to the same Counter-Strike season. But they're separate competitions with separate brackets and separate prize pools.

What Are Majors?

Majors are the biggest events in CS2. They're sponsored by Valve. They have the most prestige. Every pro team wants to win one.

What Is ESL Pro League?

ESL Pro League is a series of tournaments run by ESL. It features top teams competing for prize money and rankings points. It's a different circuit from the Majors.

Why It Matters

Teams have to balance both. Good results in ESL Pro League help rankings. But Majors are where legends are made.

Now you know the difference.
