Saudi-Led Group Completes $55 Billion EA Acquisition, Takes Gaming Giant Private

It's done. Electronic Arts is no longer a public company.

A Saudi-led investment group has completed its $55 billion purchase of the gaming giant. The deal takes EA private. It also loads the company with significant debt.

What EA Owns

This is massive. EA makes some of the biggest games in the world. The Sims. EA FC. Madden. FIFA before they lost the license. Apex Legends. Battlefield.

Now all of that belongs to new owners with deep pockets and big ambitions.

The Saudi Connection

Saudi Arabia has been buying up gaming and esports at a rapid pace. They own significant stakes in multiple publishers. They run the Esports World Cup. They fund Team Falcons.

This acquisition is the biggest move yet. $55 billion for one of gaming's oldest and largest companies.

The Debt Question

Going private comes with strings attached. The deal loaded EA with significant debt. That's standard for leveraged buyouts this size. But it raises questions.

Will EA have the same freedom to invest in new games? Will esports programs like EA FC Pro get more resources or fewer? Will development studios feel the squeeze?

No answers yet. Just questions.

What Happens Next

Private ownership means less public scrutiny. No more quarterly earnings calls. No more shareholder pressure.

But someone still has to pay back that debt. And that someone is now EA.

The gaming industry just changed. We'll be watching to see how.
